EXPERIENCE: I AM A DIABETIC FOR THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS. I CONTROL MY GLUCOSE LEVELS BY REGULARLY GOING FOR A WALK FOR 45 MINUTES AND 15 MINUTES OF strength training total 60 minutes of compulsory exercise.

I am a Diabetic with the level ranging from 160-180. I do regular morning walk along with Gym. Is it harmfull for the diabetic patient by lifting the heavy weights.
Please guide.
ANSWER: Hi there,
You have to know that working out in the gym is something good not only for a diabetic person, but for everyone.
Because of this, my advice for you is to continue with the exercises and start or continue following a healthy diabetic diet. These two factors are leading to better control of your blood glucose level.
The reason why it is good for you to work out in the gym is because these exercises are helping you to burn the excessive amount of glucose in your blood.
This will lead to lower blood glucose concentration and reduction of the risk for development of diabetes complications.
Regarding the result of your blood test, which varies from 160 up to 180, you have to know that they are quite high.
In purpose to remind you, I will mention that the normal blood glucose concentration is between 64.8-104.4mg/dl.
There are several things which you can do about your elevated blood glucose level. First, make a consultation with your doctor about therapy adjustments.
You have to know that diabetes is progressive disease, which means that it sometimes needs changes in the treatment.
Other thing is to arrange you a diet, which is composed of at least 4-5 small meals a day. These meals have to be composed of low-carb and low-fat foods.
This will reduce the intake of glucose and respectively better control of your diabetes.
Other thing, which you can do about your blood glucose level, is to start using herbs with glucose reduction purpose.
You have to know that there are several very effective herbs on the market, like gymname sylvestre, cinnamon and bitter melon, which are help you to maintain your blood glucose level within the normal ranges.
The last thing is to continue with the exercises. You have to know that if you try to combine these entire things together, you will forget about all your problems related to diabetes.
