Diabetic blood sugar levels and white cells in urine
by Awais
QUESTION: Sir, I first diagnosed with diabetes last year and I take good control of it with diet. Some time my fasting blood sugar is under 100 like 53,96,85,47 and some other time 106,104,120.
My random blood sugar is 158,185,202,some other time 127,106.
For the last 2 months I do not take medicine. However, I am passing urine too often during the day, and with too much white cells.
I am worried and want to know what to do???
ANSWER: Hi,
It is good that you have optimized your
blood sugar through diet. Congrats and go on like this!
The presence of white cells in your urine may indicate a urine infection. Actually, urine infections are very common especially in diabetics (who have an altered immune system).
That's why you should talk to your doctor to take the appropriate antibiotic. By the way, Bactrim and Nitrofurantoin drugs are the most common prescribed accompanied with vitamin C and urine alcalinizers.
However, you should contact a doctor for urine culture as the test of choice to find the appropriate sensitive drug for your case.
Take care!
