"Crazy" gestational diabetes levels?

My sister is 35 weeks pregnant, and when she measures her blood sugar it is always high (till 140 mg/dl). Her doctor asked for the test, and it was fine the fasting level, while after 2 hrs was 129 mg/dl.
Her doctor changed her diet, asked for exercise, but still high blood sugar levels.

Also the doctor said when pregnant, blood sugar "act like crazy", sometimes they drop down, some other times are high, but didn't explain why. Does anybody know this Why?

Blood sugar count in pregnancy
by: Alba

Hi there,

Alba here from All-About-Beating-Diabetes.com

According to what you're saying, your sister has got gestational diabetes. Sometimes it is not well-known why blood sugar levels are acting like that: going upper and then drop down.

However, your sister lifestyle habits and diet strategy together with insulin shots will give a hand in controlling gestational diabetes.

Although the changes, your sister's blood glucose levels are still high, this is partly due to her condition : being pregnant.

During pregnancy, a woman's physical activity is limited while she is gaining weight.

The only thing I want to remind you and your sister: Take good care of yourself and your baby. Try not to eat for two, but for yourself. If you feed yourself in a healthy way, your baby will be fed in a healthy way too.

Try to be emotionally in peace, because stress hormones make your blood sugar come up. All your gestational diabetes problems will be solved once you give birth.

Until then I wish you: Good luck and hope your sister will give birth to a beautiful and healthy child.
