Children diabetes diet

Well, this is something I noticed recently. Children are obese and overweight, and parents "love" them being like this.

Also, I heard about type 2 diabetes is more and more often in children nowdays.

Should the parents work on their children diet and put them in physical activity regime to reverse diabetes or at least avoiding its onset.

Any comment?

Most parents correlate between obesity and good general health for their children. Of course, this concept is wrong, because millions of obese people worldwide suffer from serious conditions, like anemia, heart diseases, diabetes?..etc.

According to a recent study published in New England Journal of Medicine, childhood obesity is one of the major causes of premature deaths. This study included about five thousand American Indian child.

During the prolonged follow-up period, almost six hundred developed diabetes type 2.

It was found that the 1.300 most obese children in this study had 230% premature death frequency more than the leanest children.

In conclusion, the elevated blood glucose had increased mortality frequency by seventy three percent, while hypertension had elevated this risk by fifty three percent.

That is why U.S.A First Lady Michelle Obama together with American Diabetes Association have announced a childhood obesity campaign (Let's Move!).This campaign aims to stop the development of diabetes type 2 as an epidemic disease in America.

It is very important that the parents give their children a healthy balanced diet which is rich in fibers, vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates, and proteins as well.

Usually, the amount of food is determined according to the child's age and weight. Sweets can be eaten in moderation. This may prevent future damages to their teeth too (caries).

Also, physical activity must be included in child's daily life. Always encourage your children to game for sports. This keeps their mind and body always active.

After playing, give your child lots of water instead of other "soft" drinks. Water is pure and will give your child the freshness he/she needs after the game and will not cause any problem to his/her body. Instead will supply with minerals most needed.

Hope this helped!

Diabetes Symptoms in Children
by: Ashley

Diabetes in children is not much associated with weight. Passage of excess urine and thirst are the initial symptoms. Abdominal pain, vomiting and dehydration may develop gradually. Development of the diabetic child is slower than other children.

nobody wants this for theyre kids
by: Amanda

I have a 6 yr old little girl and two other small
children and a full time job to go along with.

No parent wants theyre child to be fat and lazy.

This is something that happens when we as parents get so caught up in our own selfish everyday life. We get so busy with work, car pool, school activities, and whatever it is that we find that Mcdonalds or whatever our pick of fast food is for that day is much easier than running to the house and preparing a proper meal.

This I am afraid has caught up with me and the sad thing is its not me thats the real sufferer of it...its my beautiful innocent 6 yr old daughter that hasnt even begun to live and just when she does start to really live she will always have to be cautious and never carefree of what she does or what she eats.

My daughter hopefully with a weight loss program will go back to normal and not have to worry with diabetes and if the damage is already done and she always has to take a peel or take shots and check her sugar 3 and 4 times a day she will have me .... MOM... to thank. Please parents dont wait til its to late to change your childs life and be a good parent and teach them to eat right.
