Can I stop medication treatment for diabetes mellitus when on Glucophage 500 mg?
by Nimmy
QUESTION: I am taking Glycophage 500 in the evening n morning. My blood sugar level random is 120 after taking one time medicine.
Can I stop the medicine as I don't want to English medicine and I wish to treat natural way?
ANSWER: Hi Nimmy,
Usually, the need to
stop a medication (including diabetic drugs) depends on your current health condition, your blood sugar levels (not only when you measure, but also including HbA1C); any complication or other related problems.
I cannot tell you to stop taking
Glucophage as I do not have your medical record. However, I can tell you that one diabetic can reduce first the initial dose of the
medication.
After some time, when
blood sugar and health conditions do permit the cease of medication, then, with the permission of your doctor, you can do it.
Never stop taking a medicine without your doctor's advice as it will cause you more problems.Your body is accustomed with the drug to restore normal blood sugar level. If you abruptly stop taking that drug, then, your body will be disoriented, and many problems will flourish.
Another thing I want you to
remember: If you think that you can keep normal blood glucose levels through
natural way, I commend you.
However, keep in mind to never give up. Sometimes, you might feel pleased with your achievements and might stop following these
natural steps. If you stop, then, many problems will come out.
So, it is better to discuss with your doctor if it is time for you to lower the dose of Glucophage you are taking, and assure him/her that you are committed to natural ways to beat diabetes.
All the best!
Dr.Alba
